Dream On

As children, dreaming came so naturally and felt very much a part of who we are as individuals. We couldn’t wait to get older and start taking action in the direction of our dreams! However, adulthood comes with endless responsibilities and it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking, “It’s too late, I’m too old, It won’t happen anyway so what’s the point” or you have forgotten how to dream altogether. Those negative thoughts are what keep people stuck, preventing them from living true to themselves. The dreams that live inside your heart are there for a reason and they are what give you BIG purpose. If you aren’t currently in pursuit of your dreams, then let’s explore together what is holding you back and work towards reigniting that dream!

First, a dream is out in the future, a vision, a problem you want to solve, an impact you’d love to make and the fulfillment you deserve. A dream is what sets your soul on fire, because it brings greater purpose to your days and satisfaction in your life. By design, a dream is meant to be BIG and yet so many people are stuck thinking small. When dreaming, you have permission to expand far beyond what your mind tells you is possible. I see so many people re-living the same, old chapter in their life over and over. The first step to dreaming again is to get a blank piece of paper and a pen. This blank page represents the next chapter of your life and where you want it to go. You can turn the page, start anew and let your dreams guide the way.

Once you’ve written down all of your BIG dreams and ideas for the future, it’s time to pick your top 5. Expand your dreams as a statement and as if you have already accomplished it. For example, let’s say you have a dream of writing a book, your dream may be “I have written a New York Times best seller.” Repeat this process for all of your top 5 dreams. Each day write down your dreams and feel the energy of what reaching those dreams would feel like. How would you carry yourself? How would you speak to yourself and others? What energy would you bring forth each day? This allows your mind, body and soul to connect and remind you of what is most important to you. You will begin to embody your dreams even before you fulfill them.

If you have gotten away from dreaming in your day-to-day, I invite you back home to the part of you that you knew so well as a child. Today is a fresh opportunity to begin again and live from a deeply connected part of yourself. One of my favorite quotes is the ancient Greek proverb that says, “Happiness is the joy you feel while striving towards your potential.” I remember this quote when I feel self-doubt creeping in, because the truth is the pursuit is where we find genuine happiness and not simply arriving at our destination. Dreaming is our way of remembering who we are and what we were put on this Earth to do!

Dream on dreamer,
